Officials from the Newark Public Library announced on Saturday that all locations of the library system will be closed to the public from March 16 through March 28 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement was made by Interim Library Director Thomas J. Alrutz.

"As a precaution to help limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), all locations of the Newark Public Library will be closed to the public," he said in a statement on Facebook.

The Newark Public Library has seven branches throughout the city. Officials said that while branches are closed there are many resources the public can use from home via the internet for free including ebooks, audiobooks and films. Information can be found on npl.org.
