Seton Hall University honored its first African American basketball player, according to reports.

Robert Hurt, Sr. was honored at the Seton Hall vs. Xavier basketball game on Prudential Center on Feb. 1. Hurt played basketball for the school in 1948 as a forward.

His late son, who died in 2014, Robert "Bobby Smooth" Hurt, followed in his footsteps and was also a well known basketball player in Newark.
