The Chi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in Northern New Jersey and Essex County Schools of Technology are hosting the 6th Annual Young Men's Empowerment Conference on Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Donald M. Payne Tech Sr. School of Technology (498-544 West Market Street) in Newark.

The conference is being put together by the Sigma Community Enrichment Initiative (SCEI). This year’s conference will be tailored for young men in grades 5-12. During the conference, attendees will engage with community leaders, educators, mentors and peers as we, address a few of the most pressing topics and challenges facing young men. 

The theme of the conference is "Cultivating the Next Generation of Leaders" and will cover dressing for success, entrepreneurship, dinning etiquette, interaction with law enforcement, college prep and mental health.

New Jersey State Sen. and Phi Beta Sigma member Troy Singleton will serve as the keynote speaker.
